The Golden State Community Foundation, Good Tidings Foundation, and San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department marked the third refurbishment of the Panhandle courts.

The release states this marks the third refurbishment of the Nate Thurmond Panhandle basketball courts, named in honor of the Warriors legend and Basketball Hall of Famer who spent more than four decades with the organization as a player and Community Relations Ambassador. The renovations included milling and leveling the playing surface, repairing surface cracks, recoating and painting the playing area, and installing new basketball rims and backboards. Additional work included cleaning backboards, painting hoop poles, and adding hand-painted signs commemorating Thurmond and his legacy. Marci Thurmond, wife of the late Nate Thurmond, and Warriors alumni and television analyst Kelenna Azubuike attended the unveiling and dedication ceremony, and the Golden State Sports Academy hosted a basketball clinic for local youth afterward.
