Fountain Hills, Casa Grande set March, April election deadlines | The Locally Times
Casa Grande candidates face a March 23 filing deadline for a July primary, while Fountain Hills candidates have until April 6 for an August election; Litchfield Park has not published its deadline.
The City of Casa Grande and the Town of Fountain Hills have established timelines and candidate filing deadlines for their 2026 municipal primary elections. Both municipalities will elect a mayor and three council members this year, but prospective candidates and voters face different schedules. According to a public notice posted February 12, 2026, the City of Casa Grande will hold its Primary Election on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The Town of Fountain Hills will hold its Primary Election two weeks later, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, per a town announcement from January 22, 2026. ## Divergent Deadlines and Requirements Prospective candidates in Casa Grande face a nomination packet filing deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026. In Fountain Hills, the candidate filing period begins on March 7, 2026, and concludes at 5:00 p.m. on April 6, 2026. Candidate packets for both municipalities are available from their respective Clerk’s Offices. The towns also differ on published term lengths and qualifications. The Fountain Hills election notice specifies the mayor will serve a two-year term and councilmembers four-year terms; the Casa Grande notice does not specify term lengths. Fountain Hills requires candidates to be at least 18, a qualified elector, and a one-year resident. It also requires a Statement of Interest before signature gathering and in-person submission of all forms. The public notice from Casa Grande does not list similar candidate qualification details. ## Litchfield Park Filing Deadline Remains Unpublished The City of Litchfield Park, which The Locally Times previously reported had incomplete election information, has still not published key deadlines for its August 4, 2026, Primary Election. While a notice on the city’s website states that candidate packets are available, public records posted by Litchfield Park do not specify a candidate filing period or a final submission deadline. ## Runoff Elections Set for November For races where no candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary, both Fountain Hills and Casa Grande have scheduled potential runoff elections to coincide with the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Casa Grande’s notice clarifies that any candidate receiving a majority of all votes cast in its July primary will be declared elected, avoiding the general election.
