Fountain Hills candidate filing for August election closes April 6 | The Locally Times

Prospective Mayor and Councilmembers must submit paperwork in person by the April 6 deadline to appear on the August 4 primary ballot.

Prospective candidates for Fountain Hills Mayor and three Councilmember seats have until April 6 to file their required paperwork for the August 4 Primary Election. The Town Clerk's Office is accepting candidate packets, which include a Statement of Interest, nomination papers, a financial disclosure statement, and collected petition signatures. As The Locally Times reported on January 22, the filing period began March 7. All submissions must be made in person to the Town Clerk's Office; electronic submissions will not be accepted. To qualify, candidates must be at least 18 years old, a qualified elector at the time of filing, and a resident of Fountain Hills for at least one year prior to the election. If no candidate secures a majority of votes in the August primary, a runoff election will be held in conjunction with the General Election on November 3. The Mayor serves a two-year term, while Councilmembers are elected to four-year terms. For further information, prospective candidates can contact Town Clerk Bev Bender at (480) 816-5115 or Deputy Town Clerk Angela Padgett-Espiritu at (480) 816-5107. What to watch: The Town Clerk's Office will confirm the final list of candidates once the April 6 deadline passes. The Town Council will hold a regular session on April 7, though candidate filings are not listed as an agenda item.
