Daytona Beach Opens Registration for Easter Beach Run | The Locally Times

As Daytona Beach opens registration for its April 4 Easter Run, Winter Garden will activate school speed cameras and Lady Lake will hold a special election.

Registration is open for the City of Daytona Beach's Annual Easter Beach Run, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, the day after Good Friday. According to an official announcement, the event is a community run along the sand. City records do not yet specify the run's start time, exact location on the beach, registration fees, or the specific municipal department managing the event. ## A Weekend of Community Events The Easter Beach Run is one of several public events scheduled across Central Florida for early spring 2026. In Apopka, the city’s free Saturday Sounds concert series will feature The Dueling Pianos Extravaganza on April 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Apopka Amphitheater. According to a city schedule, other performances in the series are set for March 21, April 18, May 2, and May 16. Separately, the City of South Daytona has scheduled its Baseball Opening Day for March 14, 2026, at James Park. ## Resident Programs and Civic Deadlines Beyond recreational events, local governments are managing resident services and civic functions. The City of Winter Garden is accepting applications for its Utility Bill Assistance Program for Low Income Seniors until May 1, 2026. A public notice for the program states that qualified residents can receive up to a 90% reduction on base utility charges for one year. Eligibility requires applicants to be at least 65 years old, or 62 and receiving Social Security, and meet specific residency and income requirements. City records state that residents must re-apply for the program annually. Winter Garden is also implementing a new school zone safety program. A city notice indicates that automated cameras will begin issuing $100 civil citations for speeding at Esteem Academy on March 25, 2026, and at Whispering Oak Elementary School on April 1, 2026. The cameras will be active on school days for vehicles traveling more than 10 mph over the posted speed limit. Other civic activities include a special election in the Town of Lady Lake on March 24, 2026, to fill a commission seat for Ward 2.
