The Clerk's Office has issued 24,788 absentee ballots and reports more than 12,000 returned so far.

The office has issued 24,788 absentee ballots to Madison voters, and more than 12,000 have been returned, according to the October 20 release. ## What residents can do The release instructs voters to seal the absentee ballot envelope, sign it, obtain a witness signature, and include the printed name and address of the witness. An absentee ballot must arrive at the Clerk's Office by Election Day in order to be counted. Voters who prefer not to use the mail can return completed ballots at any of the city's 14 ballot drop boxes, which Clerk staff check regularly. The drop boxes remain open until 5 p.m. on Monday, November 2. ## Timeline Voters can also drop off absentee ballots at any In-Person Absentee Voting site or at their polling place on Election Day, the release states. The release directs voters to the My Vote Wisconsin website to track their absentee ballot. The October 20 notice does not list the hours or locations of the In-Person Absentee Voting sites; it links to a separate list of IPAV hours and locations.
