Madison announces Juneteenth transit and trash collection schedule changes | The Locally Times
City services will operate on modified schedules Friday, June 19, with specific route detours planned for the annual Juneteenth parade.
The City of Madison will suspend regular trash, recycling, brush, and large item collections on Friday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Residents with Friday collection days must place their carts out for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, to ensure service. ## Transit and Traffic Impacts Madison Metro will operate on a Saturday schedule for the holiday. Routes A, B, C, E, F, G, H, J, L, O, P, R, and S will run on Saturday service levels, while Route D will follow a reduced schedule for Verona and service. Routes 81 through 84 will not operate, and Route 80 will follow a weekday recess schedule. All standing paratransit rides are canceled for the day, requiring riders to schedule casual trips. Street closures are scheduled for the annual Juneteenth Parade on Saturday, June 20. South Park Street will close from West Badger Road to West Wingra Drive between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Streets surrounding Penn Park, including Fisher Street and Dane Street, will remain closed until 6:00 p.m. ## Service Office Closures City of Madison Streets Division drop-off sites and administrative offices will be closed on June 19. Operations at these facilities will resume during normal hours on Saturday, June 20, for drop-off sites, and Monday, June 22, at 7:30 a.m. for administrative offices. Metro Transit’s administrative office will also be closed on Friday, though the customer service call center will remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
