Avon Lake Community Council is accepting nominations for its 2026 awards, recognizing individuals and initiatives that strengthen the community, as the city also plans for future infrastructure investments.

These awards recognize individuals and projects that contribute to the community's well-being and development. This initiative highlights community engagement and the city's commitment to acknowledging local contributions. The City of Avon Lake also received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2023, from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), demonstrating sound financial practices. Residents will also consider a proposed additional 0.4% municipal income tax on the May 5, 2026, ballot. The City of Avon Lake states this measure would adjust the income tax rate from 1.5% to 1.9% for a five-year period. The proposed increase is projected to generate approximately $6.6 million in revenue, earmarked for road and capital improvement needs within the community.
