The Maryland Department of Transportation is undertaking a guardrail replacement project along a 1.3-mile segment of the US Route 1 Hickory Bypass.
## Guardrail Replacement Underway The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is replacing guardrails along the median and shoulders of the US Route 1 Hickory Bypass. This project covers a 1.3-mile stretch of the highway. ## Traffic and Timeline Contractor crews will be working on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Lane closures will be in effect on either the northbound or southbound lanes of the US 1 Hickory Bypass during these times. The project is expected to be completed by early summer 2027, weather permitting. L. S. Lee, Inc. of York, PA, is the contractor for this project. Motorists are advised to remain alert and obey posted speed limits within the work zone.
