SUNY Adirondack Hosts Poet Carol Graser | The Locally Times
Poet Carol Graser, host of Caffe Lena's monthly poetry night since 2003, will present her work as part of the college's Writers Project series.
SUNY Adirondack will host poet Carol Graser on Monday, February 23, at 12:40 p.m. in the college's Visual Arts Gallery in Dearlove Hall, as part of the Writers Project series (SUNY Adirondack, 2026-02-19). The event provides a platform for community engagement with a local literary figure. Graser's journey with poetry began in fifth grade, where she discovered its ability to connect with others, according to a February 19 news release from SUNY Adirondack. She later studied literature and creative writing at SUNY Binghamton. Since 2003, Graser has hosted a monthly open poetry night at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, an initiative that began after she proposed the idea to the venue's manager. Her latest book of poetry is titled 'Prayer for the Sorrowful Brain.' The same news release notes Graser's community involvement extends to hosting poetry workshops for teenagers and at-risk youth. ## Community Literary Engagement The Writers Project series contributes to the region's cultural landscape by bringing literary figures to the campus. This event, featuring Graser's work exploring themes of love, loss, and daily life, highlights the college's role in fostering artistic expression and community connection. SUNY Adirondack also recently announced the hiring of Laura Lincoln as its Foundation director and a partnership with Warren County for a Career Cafe, according to February 19 news releases. These initiatives collectively demonstrate the college's ongoing efforts in both cultural enrichment and community development.
