Malta Offers Early Property Assessment Review | The Locally Times

Town of Malta property owners can submit informal review applications electronically before the formal grievance period begins May 1.

## Informal Review Process The Town of Malta is offering property owners an opportunity to review their preliminary property assessments before the formal grievance period begins. Preliminary Change of Assessment Notices are scheduled to be mailed by March 30, 2026, along with instructions for property owners. Residents who agree with their new assessment do not need to take further action, as the assessment will become final on July 1, 2026. However, those who disagree with their assessment are encouraged to utilize an online portal to research comparable sale and assessment data. The town's website, townofmaltany.gov, directs residents to the PROSGAR website for this purpose. ## Formal Grievance Period This informal review process is distinct from the formal grievance process, which begins on May 1 and concludes on Grievance Day, May 26, 2026. Formal grievances, submitted using the RP-524 form, cannot be filed electronically. The Board of Assessment Review page will provide further details on the formal process. The town is providing this earlier review period to allow property owners to submit supporting documentation, such as interior photos, appraisals, and comparable assessments, to argue for a reduction in their assessment.
